Closed for the holidays

Aug. 23, 1964
Kingsport, Tenn.

We're taking a few days off, and will refire sometime in early January. Meanwhile, here's some holiday cheesecake. This is the only thing I've found so far about this track. The caption is crazy (finish line? don't think so).   If that's the starting line, I hope the cars were farther apart for real racing. Car on the left looks like a 63 Impala -- which I always assume is a Z-11. I want to see crossed flags on the door, typical of so many of them. I'd love to see a real print of this.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to anyone who happens to find this.

Moyers and T-bolts

July 4, 1964 Des Moines, Iowa
July 10, 1964 Waterloo, Iowa
Feb. 9, 1964 Des Moines
Don't know if Carl and Bill were related, or anything else about the Thunderbolt's participation in the Iowa 300.

Landy roars at Lions

June 1, 1964
Agate is hard to read, but ETs look like 11.42 for Landy, 11.45 for Leal.

Mr. Plymouth

That would be Ringgold, Ga.'s Robert Nance.
Not sure of the exact date of this. My clip has June 21 written on it. Seems late for a "new" car, and I don't think he was running two. The '64, driven by James Lake, ran into 1965, and was as tough as Nance's '65 hemi before it went the AWB route.

Southern special

June 5, 1964
Old southern track that is still operating at 1/8 mile, holds pro-mod events. Old online video from the 1990s is amazing; the place looks as dark as a tunnel. It has been spiffed up a bit, but its outlaw cred is largely intact.

Bummer

May 30-June 18, 1964
Blue Ridge, Ga. The promoters probably got a lot grayer after this one.
