Here are some results from May 1, 14, and 28.  Edsel power rules!

Buckeye state of mind

This item, from May 1961, provided a trove of old tracks in Ohio.

Most of them didn't seem to advertise much in 1962, and the news coverage wasn't particularly informative beyond naming the super stock eliminator winner. But here are a few:

For Kil-Kare (1965) and Pacemakers (1970), I had to search way ahead.

But the best was Raven Rock, which we'll feature more of in the next few days.

Tri-power

Burlington (Iowa) Hawk Eye, May 25, 1962
There's some discussion online about this old place, an eighth-mile track built at the county fairgrounds.

Twin terrors

Amarillo Globe Times, June 22, 1962
More dragsters, but it's hard to pass up great ads such as this one. Don't miss your bus.

Spring break finale -- day seven

Aug. 31, 1962
This ends our week in Florida of great Southern cars and races. I had a great time; hope you did, too. I've made reservations for 1963.

Spring Break week -- Day one

May 11, 1962
Since it's spring break, I thought we'd head to Panama City, Florida, for the next week, with ads from Sunset Dragway. The track was always booking big super stock races, and regularly advertised them in the local newspaper. Hope the efficiency apartment at Robertson's Motel is available.

Stock race

Danville Register, Sept. 2, 1962
All cars must be stock for this race (wink, wink). Sorry, no results.

Roanoke Drag Strip

Danville Register, Aug. 11, 1962
The website vaautoracing.org has information about Roanoke, plus a great album of old photos. Reminded me a bit of the Double H.

Mexia Daily News and Waco Tribune Herald, Aug. 19, 1962

Prairie Hill, near Waco, was in an earlier post, but there was another strip in the Waco area, too. Got results of the Prairie Hill race.

'Bloody Mary' morning

San Antonio Express and News, March 11 and March 25, 1962
I know it's about the furthest thing from super stocks, but it was hard to pass up an item about the Michigan Madman, who died last year. He also ran at the Double H, astonishingly, which I'll probably feature when I get into 1964.
This Texas track must have had a penchant for the offbeat -- two weeks later, an Allison-powered machine.
