An incredible meet -- 70 cars, nine of them Z-11s. And this was when they reran the field for second and third places. I'd love to know more about this one.

Two Southern super stock legends, huge rivals, great showmen, the epitome of "run what you brung." High 10's in 1963? More than gas in the tank? Rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules. Sorry, no results on this one.
Sept. 2, 1963 Wally McGinty was included in a post at the end of April about black racing. He was an interesting guy -- a college basketball player for Wake Forest. He had a '62 409 the previous season, and moved up to a '63 409 -- no Z-11, but likely no slouch, either.
